Art, anger and conversation
By Guy Mclaren
Frederik suggested I expound on my art, nothing to tell really. I am the original boy that couldn't draw. I picked up some paint brushes feeling a need to splash and daub and the first painting in January 2010 was acceptable. Someone liked my second painting and has hung it in his home. The first one is hanging in my own home. I figured I'd like to keep that one so that I can compare progress as I paint more. A few of my paintings are hanging in homes across Southern Africa, not that anyone has actually paid me for one yet. I am generous in that way. If someone likes it and wants it, it's theirs. I publish most of my art on my facebook page, just search facebook for Guy Mclaren art and check it out for yourself. Maybe someday I'll have enough courage to try a show and sell a painting or two. I have become less angry since I have started painting. Painting is a curiously calming activity. Creativity seems to make conversation flow better. I always enjoy finishing a work because of the sense of wellbeing and satisfaction engendered.
Guy McLaren has been married for ever(OK, only 19 years) He is a photographer and web developer based in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga and Pretoria, Gauteng South Africa

Hi, Guy, I would sugest that you are less frustrated since finding the way to chanel your energy through your art rather than less angry. Anger doesn't last. Frustration does and is a killer that will last until a remedy is found.
Thank you for sharing your hobby, Guy. I think that you should do a website and market your work. Don't let the art run you, enjoy and run with your art at a pace that gives you pleasure. Best wishes. Frederick
CONTRIBUTOR'S REPLY
Thank you Frederick. I paint frantically because that's the way I am. I rarely paint for more than an hour at a time. I may consider the website as an option sooner rather than later.
